GORILLA GROUPS IN BWINDI

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is best known for its outstanding gorilla trekking safari, but it is also home to elephants, chimpanzees, monkeys and various small antelope and bird species. There are seven habituated gorilla groups located in different parts of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The groups range in size from 10 to 20 individuals, each with one or two Silverbacks.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is an active expedition with moderate to strenuous hikes. Participants must be at least 15 years old, and should be physically fit. While tracking Gorillas, guests will trek through thick jungle at elevations ranging up to 10,000 feet, for as many as four to eight hours, depending on the location of the Gorillas. Treks can be arduous; and the terrain can be steep, uneven, wet, and muddy. This trip is not suitable for those who suffer from a cardiac, respiratory, or circulatory disorder or a disability that limits mobility.

01Day One: Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, we will head to western Uganda for the birding experience in Africa’s No. 1 birding Spot. We stop at the Equator to take photographs of the crossing and enjoy some snacks. We will continue to Mbarara for lunch and coffee in Kabale and then proceed to Bwindi.

02Day Two: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, we will head to the Headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for an orientation plus meeting the guides as well as separation into the groups basing on which gorilla group you are to be tracking.

From there you will set off for your thrilling experience of the Gorillas. Hiking within this mysterious and wonderful forest offers quite a lot to see as you make your way to see the Mountain Gorillas. Look out for additional primates, butterflies, mammals and birds. The trekking will entail thorough climbing before you come face to face with the Mountain Gorillas, watching them only a few meters away. You will see the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking their every day routine just right in front of you. 03Day Three: End of Gorilla Trekking Safari

After breakfast, Check-out and continue the Uganda Adventure. Or head back to the capital Kampala, with stops in Mbarara for a delicious lunch and then proceed to Kampala or Entebbe bringing this 3 Day Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Uganda to a close. Airport drop-off is free of charge if you are flying out on the last day of the safari.
